"Always Bet on Black "
Post pattern to Smith gives "Black" squad an electrifying come from behind victory...
Things appeared to be on the "up and up" for Coach Ruiz, Luaki, and Collins on Friday afternoon at Gene Vollnogle Stadium. "Blue" squd captains stormed mid-field, and won the coin flip. They elected to defer until the second half, and tested their "stacked" defense right away.
"On paper they looked good, really good," stated "Black" squad's DB's coach G. Ford. On "Blue's" first defensive series, they stopped the "Black" squad after allowing a couple of first downs. The "Blue" squad then went on to rack up yards with the run. "People were in position to make plays, but the flags seemed as if they were superglued onto the "Blue" squad's hips," stated "Black" coach, G. Allen. Of course the officials made sure this was not the case, and it was evident that the offensive line's prowess, and Sula's "shiftiness" was paying dividends. After a few more Sula runs, and some key passes, "Blue" went on to score a touchdown, 1pt conversion on their first offensive possession.
On their second posession, "Black" finally got things in order, and drove the ball downfield to score a touchdown of their own. Their 2pt try fell a little short though, and the score at the half was 7-6, in favor of "Blue". In the second half, a seesaw battle ensued. "Blue" scored another touchdown, and one point coversion, followed by "Black", and their second failed 2pt attempt. "Blue" was jubilant when "Black" missed their second consecutive extra point attempt, and celebrated a little prematurely. The score was now 14-12, in favor of "Blue".
With a little over a minute left to play, in a tightly contested battle, the "Black" squad's resilience proved to be too much for the "bad boys in blue." (more to come....) |
