Colts Take Title

Led by great team play on both sides of the ball the young Colts concluded their summer schedule by winning the El Camino College Passing Tournament!

The summer had a great ending for the young, developing, and appropriately named Colts. After suffering heart breaking losses in each of their 3 defeats this summer, the group matured and discovered how to finish by defeating a talented Compton squad in the finals. The team played steady, efficient football in each game and dominated their opponents by outscoring them 129 - 36.
The defense played exceptionally as a unit throughout the day and appeared to really have developed a grasp of the 3-4 scheme. The secondary created 8 interceptions as well as numerous coverage sacks. Safeties Jeff Mueller and Antonio Crews were solid, with Crews making a few acrobatic picks in the tourney. Corners Roderick Hall, Steve Boyd, and Marquel Limbrick solidified the edges and played
very well. Linebackers Joel Deayon, David Sausau, Jack Sula, and Emmanuel Brown were terrific on the underneath coverage and had several interceptions as well.
The offense was directed by sophomore Mason Napoleon, who had a solid, efficient day while leading the team to 115 points on the day. Receivers Ken McRoyal, Marquis Williams, Mike Manuel, and Chris Anderson were dynamic throughout, running nice routes while continuing to learn the nuances of their new system. Tight ends Morrel Presley and Keenan Smith made several key plays, especially in the later rounds of the tournament. Running backs Jack Sula, Steve Boyd, & Mike Cortez were instrumental in the day's success by continually stressing defenses and beating both zone and man coverage. Junior Jack Sula had his best game in the final scoring twice vs the man coverage of Compton.
