"Clash of the Colts"
2007 "Black/Blue Scrimmage" is going to be one for the ages...
On a windy Wednesday evening, your Carson Colts coaches were hard at work in the "war room", making selections in 2007's Black/Blue Scrimmage.
Some people say that "lightning doesn't strike twice," but that doesn't seem to be the case when it comes to senior running back Jack Sula. For the second year in a row, Sula was the No. 1 overall draft pick, as he was selected by the Blue Squad. The No. 1 selection for the Black squad (2nd pick overall), was appropriately enough, Dominique Blackman. "You have two offensive veterans who are going to try and impose their will," stated 2nd year defensive line coach Glenn Allen. For the "Blue" squad, you have offensive juggernaut Carlos "Goose" Ruiz calling the plays, and for the "Black", it will be the crafty Robert Hernandez.
"It is pretty evident what "Goose" has in mind," stated Coach Ford (Black Squad's DB's Coach), in reference to Coach Ruiz selecting 4 of the 5 starting offensive linemen. "I just hope he realizes this is a flag football game," Ford went on to say. On the other hand, Hernandez's "Black" squad will seek to de-throne Coach Ruiz, who boasts a 1-0 record it the Colt series. "We obviously have a guy who can throw the ball, in Dominique Blackman," stated receiver's Coach Robert Hernandez, "but we definitely plan on taking a balanced approach."
Head Coach Mike Christensen will be officiating the game, and has already laid down the law. "I already know what's going to happen when things start heating up, and am ready to flag Ruiz if he steps onto the field." This brought a big smile to the "Black" squad's coaching staff.
